Rio Grande Valley Water, Wastewater, and Heavy Equipment Operator Training Project. It combines technical training and certification with courses in environmental sustainability and job readiness, in coordination with employers and training providers in the region.

Success story
Juan Barrón (47), a crew leader at the McAllen, Texas wastewater treatment plant with seven years of service, voluntarily enrolled in the Heavy Equipment Operator (backhoe) training to continue advancing professionally. He completed the in-person training while maintaining his daily duties and developed skills in trench excavation for pipe installation and leak repair, backhoe and excavator operation, and safe operating procedures. Today, he views his certification as a step toward future supervisory and management responsibilities.
