At the beginning of July, Luz Marina Correa, Project Manager, and María Camila Guerra, Project Officer, visited the Bella Flor and Arrayanes centers of our local partner Laudes Infantis in Bogotá, Colombia.
During this visit, the process and implementation of the POETA DigiSpark 2022 project were monitored in these centers, which provide virtual and in-person training in digital skills and computer science, especially to the communities located near them.
Additionally, they shared with the trainers, coordinators, and the communications area, who provided a detailed explanation regarding the implementation, progress, achievements, and challenges of the project. Luz Marina and María Camila had the great opportunity to be with some training participants, who shared their experiences related to aspects of how COVID and the pandemic changed and affected certain aspects of their lives, and how they have handled the return to in-person activities after two years of a new normal.
This year Laudes Infantis continues with the strong gender focus that has always set them apart, having carried out various events and activities dedicated especially to women. A clear example of this is the event they developed celebrating Mother's Day and providing a focus related to the importance of the mother's role within the care economy and how they can assume other roles in society, where technology plays a fundamental role. The work that could be witnessed by Laudes Infantis reflects all the effort and dedication that characterizes the Local Partners who are part of POETA DigiSpark, where opportunities and access to technology are provided so that more people from vulnerable communities obtain a better quality of life.
