Chords of Life – A musical project that fosters inclusion

One of Brazil's longest-running social mobilization campaigns, Criança Esperança has been creating development opportunities for children and youth throughout the country for 36 years. Recognized by the UN as an international model, Criança Esperança is one of the country's most visible and recognized social programs, as well as a powerful communication tool for discussing important issues on the Brazilian social agenda.

Through its annual mobilization campaign, it raises funds that are invested in social projects developed by civil society organizations across Brazil's five regions. With the participation of citizens and major companies, the program has already supported more than 5,000 projects, benefiting over 4 million children and young people in vulnerable situations throughout the country.

All funds raised are deposited directly into an account of UNESCO – the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization, which is responsible for selecting projects through a public call for proposals, as well as monitoring and conducting the technical and financial oversight of the supported organizations.

In 2021, Criança Esperança celebrated education as an agent of social transformation, in a scenario where the pandemic worsened school dropout rates.

The Chords of Life project has participated in Criança Esperança since 2018 and offers music workshops during after-school hours, such as Guitar, Keyboard, Violin, Flute, Choir, and Percussion, in addition to recreational activities, recycling workshops, and pedagogical and psychosocial support. Aimed at children and adolescents aged 4 to 18, in 2021 its goal was to directly serve 70 children and adolescents and indirectly benefit 280 people.

Jerônimo Candinho Social Works is a social organization dedicated to promoting inclusion and improving the quality of life for children and youth in situations of vulnerability and social exclusion. In addition to implementing POETA DigiSpark 2021, it also promotes regular school education through Allan Kardec School, offering free education from Early Childhood Education to Middle School, aiming to rescue the human values and self-esteem of children, youth, and adolescents by offering differentiated activities that provide a break from living with abandonment, mistreatment, negligence, and risks. It also offers, during after-school hours, tutoring, environmental education workshops, crafts, music, as well as citizenship classes and recreational activities.
