After two years of implementation, the DIA Innovation Lab for Youth Belize (DIA Lab Belize) marked the successful completion of the first phase of the program. Key stakeholders gathered to celebrate the accomplishments of this groundbreaking initiative which aims to create a network of youth agents of change in Belize. The Trust for the Americas' project is supported financially by the U.S. Embassy Belize through the Central American Regional Security Initiative – Economic Support Fund (CARSI-ESF) and is implemented in collaboration with the University of West Indies (UWI) Open Campus.

The Trust for the Americas, in collaboration with the Caribbean School of Data (CSOD) is pleased to launch a digital literacy initiative at the Kolbe Foundation, Belize Central Prison. This initiative, facilitated through its DIA Innovation Lab for Youth Belize (DIA Lab Belize), aims to equip young inmates with the essential digital skills of the 21st century to enhance their employability upon release and empower them to secure a stable future.

In an exciting virtual event, the "Hack 4 Change" Regional Hackathon brought together young innovators from Trinidad and Tobago, Jamaica, and Belize. This idea-making event was organized by The Trust for the Americas' local partner, the Caribbean Industrial Research Institute (CARIRI), and focused on challenging participants from the Democratizing Innovation in the Americas' Lab network to develop innovative tech-based solutions.

The Trust for the Americas, junto con su socio local ADASEC RD y con el apoyo financiero de Citi Foundation, celebró por segunda vez la Competencia Pitch de Proyectos Innovadores del DIA Lab RD, La Vega. En este evento, 21 proyectos se presentaron ante un jurado multidisciplinario en busca de la posibilidad de ganar fondos semilla para fortalecer e impulsar sus emprendimientos, los cuales buscan dar soluciones a problemáticas sociales en sus comunidades.

In an in-person event at the University of the Commonwealth Caribbean (UCC), The Trust for the Americas through its Democratizing Innovation in the Americas (DIA) Program, celebrated the DIA Summit 2022. Under the theme "Global YOUth: youth in the context of the globalized world," the DIA Summit 2022 aimed to facilitate meaningful connections and empowerment of youth through networking opportunities and discussions on cutting-edge topics.

In an in-person event, The Trust for the Americas with the InterAmerican Development Bank Lab (IDB Lab) celebrated the official launch of the project “Unleashing the Potential of Jamaican Youth through Empowerment & Training,” known as JET.

The Trust for the Americas, junto a su socio local ADASEC y con el apoyo financiero de Citi Foundation, celebraron la primera Competencia Pitch de Proyectos Innovadores de los DIA Labs en República Dominicana. En este encuentro presencial, 14 proyectos se presentaron ante un jurado multidisciplinario, compitiendo así por la posibilidad de ganar fondos semilla con el objetivo de fortalecer e impulsar sus emprendimientos, los cuales buscan dar soluciones a problemáticas locales en torno al desempleo, seguridad ciudadana y cambio climático. Siete de estas iniciativas resultaron ganadoras, por su potencial y factibilidad de implementación en sus comunidades.

República Dominicana

The Trust for the Americas, in partnership with the University of West Indies – Open Campus and the financial support of the United States Embassy in Belmopan, celebrated the first Pitch Tank Competition of 2022 at the DIA Innovation Lab for Youth. The Lab provided 12 disruptive young minds with the opportunity to present innovative business ideas before a panel of judges to compete for seed funding.

The Trust for the Americas and Humana People to People Belize (HPPBZ) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to create a framework for cooperation between The Trust for the Americas and Humana People to People Belize.

The DIA Lab in Trinidad and Tobago celebrated the graduation ceremony of 72 young Trinbagonians. The DIA training program seeks to inspire young innovators and entrepreneurs to develop solutions that generate livelihood opportunities and economic development within their communities.
