March 28th, 2023.<\/strong>&nbsp;In an exciting virtual event, the&nbsp;<strong>\u201cHack 4 Change Regional Hackathon<\/strong>&nbsp;brought together young innovators from&nbsp;<strong>Trinidad and Tobago<\/strong>,&nbsp;<strong>Jamaica<\/strong>, and<strong>&nbsp;Belize<\/strong>. This idea-making event was organized by&nbsp;<strong>The Trust for the Americas<\/strong>\u2018local partner, the Caribbean Industrial Research Institute (CARIRI), and focused on challenging participants from the&nbsp;<strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.trustfortheamericas.org\/media\/press-room\/kits\/versions\/en\/DIA_Labs_Caribe_-_EN.pdf\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Democratizing Innovation in the Americas\u2019 Lab<\/a><\/strong>&nbsp;network to develop innovative tech-based solutions.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">As part of the challenge, 15 participating teams comprising developers, subject matter experts, and idea generators had 48 hours to craft an ICT solution for three priority domains:&nbsp;<strong>Technology<\/strong>,&nbsp;<strong>Creative Economies<\/strong>, and&nbsp;<strong>Climate Action<\/strong>, hoping to receive&nbsp;<strong>USD 1,000<\/strong>&nbsp;in seed funding. All the teams showcased their passion, creativity, and commitment to developing impactful ideas, giving difficulty to the panel of multidisciplinary judges, including Lynette Akong, Gerard Thomas, Miguel Andrews, and Camille Pagee, who carefully evaluated each proposal. Winners were selected for each country:&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">From the&nbsp;<strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.trustfortheamericas.org\/programs\/dia\/dia-urban-lab-youth-innovation-trinidad-and-tobago\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" target=\"_blank\">DIA Lab Trinidad and Tobago<\/a><\/strong>:&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Sundae Bytes:<\/strong>\u00a0an e-learning app that uses VR technology to take students on virtual field trips to educational and historical locations. It aims to inspire curiosity, encourage learning, and promote climate action.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Pandalytics:\u00a0<\/strong>an education technology project that helps migrant and disenfranchised children access formal education through a curated platform with public information. The platform is presented through an easy-to-use dashboard and aims to bridge the educational access and equity gap for underserved children.\u00a0\u00a0<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Null Method Programming Concepts:<\/strong>\u00a0an education technology project that utilizes AI to enhance student learning through QuizzifAI, a powerful application that generates multiple-choice quizzes based on provided topics. The app can generate an unlimited number of questions and provide targeted feedback on students\u2019 answers.\u00a0\u00a0<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">From the&nbsp;<strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.trustfortheamericas.org\/programs\/dia\/urban-labs-youth-innovation\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" target=\"_blank\">DIA Urban Lab Jamaica<\/a><\/strong>:&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Team Baro:<\/strong>\u00a0an app that addresses the lack of student engagement, ownership, and collaboration in traditional learning environments by providing a more engaging and personalized learning experience.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Apply Digital:<\/strong>\u00a0a web application that supports and promotes indigenous culture by providing a platform for sharing knowledge, traditions, and way of life. The project aims to eradicate cultural erasure by preserving and celebrating indigenous cultures\u2019 unique and valuable contributions.\u00a0\u00a0<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">From the&nbsp;<strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.trustfortheamericas.org\/programs\/dia\/innovation-lab-youth-improving-digital-skills-and-creation-livelihood-solutions-belize\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" target=\"_blank\">DIA Lab Belize<\/a><\/strong>:&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>HackITBAC:\u00a0<\/strong>an education technology project that addresses the issue of broken communication and collaboration during the learning process. The project achieves this by developing a web application as a platform for teachers and students to interact and learn together.\u00a0\u00a0<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Gigacoders:<\/strong>\u00a0a web application that aims to increase appreciation of cultural and local music in the Caribbean by making the music experience more accessible.\u00a0\u00a0<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Rodrigo Iriani, Senior Program Manager for DIA at The Trust for the Americas, said:&nbsp;&nbsp;<em>\u201c48 hours of idea generation and conceptualization have produced some truly impressive and innovative proposals.
