Ciudad de Panam\u00e1 – 30 de marzo, 2023. The Trust for the Americas<\/strong>through its POETA program Democratizando la Innovaci\u00f3n en las Am\u00e9ricas (DIA)<\/strong>, busca fortalecer las capacidades del sector p\u00fablico y la ciudadan\u00eda apoyando la implementaci\u00f3n del Programa Interamericano de Datos Abiertos para Prevenir y Combatir la Corrupci\u00f3n (PIDA)<\/a> en Panam\u00e1. En colaboraci\u00f3n con el Banco de Desarrollo de Am\u00e9rica Latina (CAF) y la Autoridad Nacional de Transparencia y Acceso a la Informaci\u00f3n (ANTAI) en Panam\u00e1, se llev\u00f3 a cabo el taller “Priorizaci\u00f3n participativa de datos p\u00fablicos a abrir en materia anticorrupci\u00f3n”<\/strong> los d\u00edas 26, 27 y 28 de marzo. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

El taller brind\u00f3 un espacio de co-creaci\u00f3n e ideaci\u00f3n colectiva para el Grupo de Trabajo de Datos Abiertos anticorrupci\u00f3n conformado por diversos actores de instituciones p\u00fablicas, la sociedad civil y la academia, a fin de trabajar hacia el objetivo de implementar un proceso de datos abiertos alineado con el modelo de gobernanza de datos abiertos en Panam\u00e1. Este componente asegurar\u00e1 la publicaci\u00f3n de los datos prioritarios y susceptibles de publicaci\u00f3n en formatos abiertos, neutrales e interoperables, de acuerdo con los est\u00e1ndares internacionales de datos abiertos en la web. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Durante la iniciativa, Rodrigo Iriani, Gerente Senior del Programa DIA, declar\u00f3: “El taller para la implementaci\u00f3n de datos abiertos como herramienta de lucha contra la corrupci\u00f3n en Panam\u00e1 es crucial en el fortalecimiento de la transparencia y la rendici\u00f3n de cuentas en el pa\u00eds. La apertura de datos gubernamentales y su acceso por parte de la sociedad promueve una mayor participaci\u00f3n ciudadana en la toma de decisiones, lo que puede resultar en pol\u00edticas m\u00e1s efectivas y equitativas para todos los paname\u00f1os.\u201d <\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Asimismo, Elsa Fern\u00e1ndez, directora general de la ANTAI, expres\u00f3: \u201cDurante esta actividad buscamos consolidar un Grupo de Trabajo de Datos Abiertos PIDA que apoyar\u00e1 en la implementaci\u00f3n del programa y velar\u00e1 por que se logre la apertura de los conjuntos de datos determinados en la agenda anticorrupci\u00f3n; pero aun m\u00e1s importante, nos ayudar\u00e1 a generar los espacios para la participaci\u00f3n y trabajo colaborativo con otras organizaciones de la sociedad civil. Donde la importancia de involucrar a estos actores en este proceso,  garantiza que se aborden las necesidades y preocupaciones de todas las partes interesadas y no s\u00f3lo de un grupo selecto, a su vez, aprovechamos su conocimiento, mejoramos la confianza y legitimidad de la implementaci\u00f3n.\u201d <\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

El Programa Interamericano de Datos Abiertos para Prevenir y Combatir la Corrupci\u00f3n (PIDA) en Panam\u00e1 se enfoca en generar acciones como capacitaci\u00f3n, sensibilizaci\u00f3n, acci\u00f3n e incubaci\u00f3n de proyectos de empoderamiento ciudadano para crear nuevos canales de combate a la corrupci\u00f3n a trav\u00e9s de datos abiertos. Este taller es parte del esfuerzo por avanzar en esta crucial labor. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Panama City \u2013 March 30, 2023. The Trust for the Americas, through its program Democratizing Innovation in the Americas (DIA), seeks to strengthen the capacities of the public sector and citizens by supporting the implementation of the Inter-American Open Data Program to Prevent and Combat Corruption (PIDA) in Panama. In collaboration with the Development Bank of Latin America (CAF) and the National Authority for Transparency and Access to Information (ANTAI) in Panama, the workshop \u201cParticipatory Prioritization of Public Data to Be Made Open for Anti-Corruption Purposes\u201d was held on March 26, 27, and 28.\u00a0 The workshop provided a space for co-creation and collective ideation for the Anti-Corruption Open Data Working Group, composed of various stakeholders from public institutions, civil society, and academia, with the aim of working toward the goal of implementing an open data process aligned with Panama\u2019s open data governance model. This component will ensure the publication of priority data and data suitable for publication in open, neutral, and interoperable formats, in accordance with international open data standards on the web.\u00a0 During the initiative, Rodrigo Iriani, Senior Manager of the DIA Program, stated: \u201cThe workshop on implementing open data as a tool to combat corruption in Panama is crucial for strengthening transparency and accountability in the country. Making government data open and accessible to the public promotes greater citizen participation in decision-making, which can lead to more effective and equitable policies for all Panamanians.\u201d\u00a0 Likewise, Elsa Fern\u00e1ndez, Director General of ANTAI, stated: \u201cThrough this activity, we aim to establish a PIDA Open Data Working Group that will support the program\u2019s implementation and ensure that the datasets identified in the anti-corruption agenda are made available; but more importantly, it will help us create opportunities for participation and collaborative work with other civil society organizations. Involving these actors in this process ensures that the needs and concerns of all stakeholders\u2014not just a select group\u2014are addressed; at the same time, we draw on their knowledge and enhance the trust and legitimacy of the implementation.\u201d\u00a0 The Inter-American Open Data Program to Prevent and Combat Corruption (PIDA) in Panama focuses on initiatives such as training, awareness-raising, action, and the incubation of citizen empowerment projects to create new channels for combating corruption through open data.
