Nos cont\u00f3 que el principal problema de los agricultores de La Vega era la falta de acceso a semillas de calidad.&nbsp;Tambi\u00e9n, nos coment\u00f3 que en Rep\u00fablica Dominicana segu\u00eda existiendo un importante porcentaje de desnutrici\u00f3n cr\u00f3nica en ni\u00f1os, lo que genera una coyuntura social y econ\u00f3mica dif\u00edcil de resolver.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Para cualquiera que lea esto, esta situaci\u00f3n es alarmante, pero para los j\u00f3venes innovadores como Darlyn, que forman parte de la red DIA, esto s\u00f3lo es&nbsp;una oportunidad para contribuir a sus comunidades. Te contamos&nbsp;su historia.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Como participante del DIA Lab RD, Darlyn fue uno de los ganadores de la <strong>Innovative Projects Pitch Competition<\/strong>, con la cual recibi\u00f3 fondos semillas para impulsar su emprendimiento \u201c<em>Terra Alta<\/em>\u201d. Esta iniciativa busca la administraci\u00f3n comunitaria de bancos de semillas y tambi\u00e9n funciona como un banco de conocimientos para la gesti\u00f3n de cultivos coordinada y posterior siembra. A partir de este proyecto, se empodera a las comunidades en su producci\u00f3n alimentaria y como objetivo final se propone reducir la desnutrici\u00f3n en la comunidad de Constanza, en el municipio de La Vega. &nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Esta historia disruptiva no solo se queda ah\u00ed. Darlyn gan\u00f3 el <strong>Premio Nacional de La Juventud La Vega<\/strong> en el regl\u00f3n de aportes a los derechos humanos. Esta categor\u00eda est\u00e1 fundamentada en la promoci\u00f3n de los derechos de la ni\u00f1ez, la adolescencia y la juventud. Asimismo, se tomaron en cuenta factores como la participaci\u00f3n activa en programas para el desarrollo de estas poblaciones, incidencia en tem\u00e1ticas y creaci\u00f3n de espacios para el desarrollo, y el nivel de impacto del proyecto.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Este tipo de premios impulsa a\u00a0los j\u00f3venes a involucrarse en el fomento de soluciones a problemas locales a trav\u00e9s de sus ideas. Esto es precisamente lo que buscan los <strong><a href=\"\/en\/\"https:>DIA Labs en RD<\/a><\/strong>, el mismo Dylan los defini\u00f3 como <em>\u201cuna gran oportunidad para que j\u00f3venes que tienen muchas ideas puedan tener ese empuje inicial. Primero, con educaci\u00f3n y capacitaci\u00f3n de c\u00f3mo hacer el negocio. Luego, en prepararnos para lanzarnos en el mercado con esa idea innovadora.\u201d\u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Dylan creo a trav\u00e9s de Terra Alta, una comunidad colaborativa para la capacitaci\u00f3n y promoci\u00f3n de producci\u00f3n sostenible y segura que le brindar\u00e1 a una cadena de peque\u00f1os productores rurales oportunidades en nuevos mercados. Este proyecto tambi\u00e9n beneficia la integraci\u00f3n social, la innovaci\u00f3n en los&nbsp;modelos a trav\u00e9s de la digitalizaci\u00f3n y la creaci\u00f3n de valor, y sobre todo un prop\u00f3sito social y vital como es la disminuci\u00f3n de la desnutrici\u00f3n infantil.&nbsp;<\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Ever since we met Darlyn Bueno Abreu, a young beneficiary of DIA Lab RD La Vega, we\u2019ve been impressed by his drive to help solve local challenges. He told us that the main problem facing farmers in La Vega was a lack of access to high-quality seeds. He also mentioned that a significant percentage of children in the Dominican Republic still suffer from chronic malnutrition, creating a social and economic situation that is difficult to resolve. To anyone reading this, this situation is alarming, but for young innovators like Darlyn, who are part of the DIA network, it is simply an opportunity to contribute to their communities. Here\u2019s her story. As a participant in the DIA Lab RD, Darlyn was one of the winners of the Innovative Projects Pitch Competition, through which she received seed funding to launch her startup, \u201cTerra Alta.\u201d This initiative aims to establish community-managed seed banks and also serves as a knowledge bank for coordinated crop management and subsequent planting. Through this project, communities are empowered in their food production, with the ultimate goal of reducing malnutrition in the community of Constanza, in the municipality of La Vega. \u00a0 This groundbreaking story doesn\u2019t end there. Darlyn won the La Vega National Youth Award in the category of contributions to human rights. This category is based on the promotion of the rights of children, adolescents, and youth. Factors such as active participation in programs for the development of these populations, advocacy on relevant issues, the creation of spaces for development, and the project\u2019s level of impact were also taken into account. This type of award encourages young people to get involved in fostering solutions to local problems through their ideas. This is precisely what DIA Labs in the Dominican Republic aims to achieve; Dylan himself described it as \u201ca great opportunity for young people with lots of ideas to get that initial push. First, through education and training on how to run a business. Then, by preparing us to launch into the market with that innovative idea.\u201d  Through Terra Alta, Dylan created a collaborative community for training and promoting sustainable and safe production that will provide a network of small rural producers with opportunities in new markets.
