Panama, June 25, 2026.<\/strong> During the week that Panama is hosting delegations from across the hemisphere for the General Assembly of the Organization of American States, Citi and The Trust for the Americas organized volunteer activities in Panama and the Dominican Republic aimed at improving educational facilities and expanding opportunities for vulnerable youth.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The event reflected the type of alliances promoted by the inter-American system, bringing together institutions, private enterprise, local organizations, and educational communities to respond to shared challenges such as youth employability, digital inclusion, and preparation for the future of work.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In Panama, the event took place at the Dr. Octavio M\u00e9ndez Pereira Educational Center, with the participation of volunteers from Citi, The Trust for the Americas, Fundaci\u00f3n Emprendamos, teachers, students, and members of the educational community. Also in attendance was Ambassador Ana Irene Delgado, Panama\u2019s Permanent Representative to the OAS, whose participation underscored the link between inter-American cooperation, the private sector, and the educational communities of the host country of the General Assembly.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Malcolm Mu\u00f1oz, Executive Director of Citi Panama, and Linda Eddleman, CEO of The Trust for the Americas<\/strong>, an affiliate entity of the OAS, accompanied the day. Together with the volunteers, they participated in the recovery of the school library through cleaning, wall painting, and the creation of an educational mural inspired by innovation, perseverance, reading, and the students' goals.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The library is a place where young people study, read, converse, and imagine their future. The intervention seeks to improve a central space for school life. Recovering it also sends a visible message to the educational community about the value of investing in the spaces where learning takes place.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In the Dominican Republic, the event took place at the Ave Mar\u00eda Polytechnic, where more than 100 volunteers from Citi and ITIERD\u2014a local partner of The Trust for the Americas\u2014participated. The teams worked alongside young people in the program to paint the school\u2019s exterior, create a school garden, and set up a recycling and art workshop.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
