Ciudad de Guatemala, 27 de enero de 2026.<\/strong> \u2014 The Trust for the Americas, <\/strong>entidad afiliada a la Organizaci\u00f3n de Estados Americanos (OEA)<\/strong>, y la Municipalidad de Guatemala<\/strong> firmaron un convenio de colaboraci\u00f3n que reafirma su compromiso conjunto con la inclusi\u00f3n social y econ\u00f3mica, el fortalecimiento del ecosistema emprendedor y la creaci\u00f3n de oportunidades para la poblaci\u00f3n guatemalteca.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

En el marco del evento se anunci\u00f3 el lanzamiento del proyecto TECLA (Promoting Technology and Connectivity for Leadership and Learning in Central America)<\/strong>, una iniciativa que se implementa en alianza con SBA Communications, <\/strong>proveedor l\u00edder de infraestructura esencial de comunicaciones inal\u00e1mbricas,y que tiene como objetivo fortalecer las habilidades digitales, de empleabilidad y de emprendimiento, mediante la incorporaci\u00f3n del uso responsable de tecnolog\u00edas emergentes, como la inteligencia artificial.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Asimismo, el acto cont\u00f3 con la participaci\u00f3n de representantes de SBA Communications<\/strong>. Linda Eddleman, CEO de The Trust for the Americas<\/strong>, destac\u00f3 la alianza estrat\u00e9gica que la organizaci\u00f3n mantiene con estas entidades del sector privado, y subray\u00f3 la relevancia hist\u00f3rica y estrat\u00e9gica de Guatemala para la instituci\u00f3n: \u201cGuatemala ocupa un lugar muy importante en la historia de The Trust. Hace m\u00e1s de veinte a\u00f1os instalamos aqu\u00ed nuestro primer centro de tecnolog\u00eda, dando inicio a un modelo que hoy est\u00e1 presente en 29 pa\u00edses del hemisferio. A lo largo de m\u00e1s de dos d\u00e9cadas de trabajo en el pa\u00eds, The Trust ha impactado a cerca de 100,000 personas en Guatemala, ampliando su acceso a conocimientos, herramientas digitales y oportunidades econ\u00f3micas. Actualmente, la organizaci\u00f3n cuenta con cerca de 400 centros de tecnolog\u00eda e innovaci\u00f3n en las Am\u00e9ricas, consolid\u00e1ndose como un actor clave en la promoci\u00f3n de la inclusi\u00f3n y el desarrollo econ\u00f3mico principalmente de las mujeres.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

En The Trust for the Americas, el 60 % de las participantes en nuestros proyectos son mujeres, reflejo de nuestro compromiso con la equidad de g\u00e9nero. A trav\u00e9s de nuestras acciones, contribuimos a reducir brechas de desigualdad y a fortalecer el liderazgo femenino, ampliando oportunidades de formaci\u00f3n y promoviendo la participaci\u00f3n activa de las mujeres en el desarrollo econ\u00f3mico y social de sus comunidades.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Por su parte, el Alcalde Ricardo Qui\u00f1\u00f3nez, de la Municipalidad de Guatemala, subray\u00f3 la importancia de esta alianza como un mecanismo para fortalecer el desarrollo local y la innovaci\u00f3n territorial:\u201cEn la ciudad de Guatemala creemos en el talento de la juventud, lo valoramos e impulsamos su capacidad de innovar y emprender apoy\u00e1ndose en la tecnolog\u00eda.  En la municipalidad tenemos una visi\u00f3n clara que va acompa\u00f1ada de proyectos y programas en los que las oportunidades se materializan.  Los j\u00f3venes son el presente y futuro de la ciudad, cuando promovemos espacios de formaci\u00f3n, educaci\u00f3n y emprendimiento, estamos construyendo una econom\u00eda m\u00e1s din\u00e1mica y un futuro donde las ideas se pueden transformar en soluciones que colaboran al progreso de la comunidad.\u201d<\/em>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

El proyecto TECLA iniciar\u00e1 su implementaci\u00f3n en Guatemala con un despliegue territorial que prioriza la Ciudad de Guatemala y el municipio de Chiquimula, en coordinaci\u00f3n con actores p\u00fablicos, privados y comunitarios. Se estima que el proyecto beneficiar\u00e1 directamente a m\u00e1s de 600 personas, con un impacto ampliado que alcanzar\u00e1 a m\u00e1s de 1.500 beneficiarios, incluyendo familias y comunidades.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Esta alianza refleja una visi\u00f3n compartida basada en la colaboraci\u00f3n entre el sector p\u00fablico, el sector privado y la sociedad civil, como una v\u00eda efectiva para cerrar brechas digitales, fortalecer capacidades locales y promover un desarrollo econ\u00f3mico inclusivo y sostenible.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Guatemala City, January 27, 2026. \u2014 The Trust for the Americas, an affiliate of the Organization of American States (OAS), and the Municipality of Guatemala signed a collaboration agreement that reaffirms their joint commitment to social and economic inclusion, strengthening the entrepreneurial ecosystem, and creating opportunities for the Guatemalan people. During the event, the launch of the TECLA project (Promoting Technology and Connectivity for Leadership and Learning in Central America) was announced. This initiative is being implemented in partnership with SBA Communications, a leading provider of essential wireless communications infrastructure,and which aims to strengthen digital, employability, and entrepreneurial skills through the responsible use of emerging technologies, such as artificial intelligence.
